Our Commitment to Privacy

The Solana Beach Schools Foundation (SBSF) respects your privacy.  This privacy statement discloses what information we gather and how we use it. The following is intended to explain the SBSF’s privacy practices but shall not be construed as a contractual promise.  The SBSF’s privacy and security policies are periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary. We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. 

What Information We Collect and How We Use It

The SBSF uses information voluntarily given by users to facilitate fundraising and community engagement within the Solana Beach School District and local community. 

Personal information we collect and store is limited to:

  • names

  • addresses

  • emails

  • contact numbers

  • donation/purchase history

  • student(s) names

  • student(s) grade levels

  • student(s) teachers

  • donor acknowledgement preferences

  • corporate matching availability

  • company names.   

The SBSF maintains a website for information sharing purposes as well. SBSF’s website is www.solanabeachkids.org. Aggregate information about which pages visitors access and information volunteered by site visitors are used to improve the content of the SBSF website.  Our website is hosted by Wix.com. Wix.com provides us with the online platform that allows us to collect donations and sell PTO and event products to you. Your data may be stored through Wix.com’s data storage, databases and the general Wix.com applications. They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall.  Information on Wix’ Privacy Policy can be found at https://www.wix.com/about/privacy. Some portions of our site, and third party applications, use cookies to improve your experience. For example, cookies allow you to shop on our site and browse to other areas without losing the contents of your shopping cart. We also use cookies to help us learn more about site traffic patterns.

The SBSF website and its integrated applications provide services such as, but not limited to: communications, surveys, enabling online donations, enabling corporate matching requests, volunteer sign ups, event sign ups, purchases for event tickets, ordering yearbooks and ordering school spirit merchandise. The SBSF primarily uses email to communicate, but also posts information on our social media pages. These communications are used for fundraising and information sharing purposes. At times, we also collaborate with the Solana Beach School district to share these types of communications. Individuals can opt out of email communications using the unsubscribe feature offered by Constant Contact, our online marketing application. The SBSF website integrates with third party applications. Any credit card information collection is used solely for the purpose of completing the transaction.  The SBSF uses Blackbaud as its credit card processing provider and its security, privacy and data handling procedures can be read at https://www.blackbaud.com/company/privacy-policy/north-america. SBSF’s corporate matching program is facilitated by Double the Donation. SBSF occasionally uses PayPal, GoPayment/Intuit, PledgeStar and GiveButter for events such as fun runs and carnivals, and for our in-person POS transactions.

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a list of practices merchants must follow to accept payment cards. This includes how to securely handle, process, and store sensitive payment card data.The SBSF has confirmed that all Third Party vendors listed above are PCI DSS compliant. 

Security of Collected Data

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and to help ensure the correct use of collected information, we have put in place appropriate procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. Access to collected data is restricted to only those SBSF staff and Board members who require access for specific purposes, such as providing services to you or performing their duties on behalf of the SBSF.
